CURL: Bears clinch CW banner, Draw 5 to determine women's champion

EDMONTON - The Alberta Golden Bears defeated the Brandon Bobcats 10-0 on Saturday afternoon, clinching their second-straight Canada West Championship.
Despite still having a game left on Sunday morning, Alberta owns a 3-0 record, and holds the tie-breaker over the 2-1 Regina Cougars and 2-1 Bobcats. Regina, however, has already locked up their berth to the 2020 U SPORTS Championship, and will represent Canada West alongside Alberta and Brandon.
The women's side is much murkier, with numerous tie-breaking scenarios still at play. The 3-0 Alberta Pandas have the easiest path, as a win tomorrow morning over Victoria will clinch both the conference title and a berth at the national tournament.
Both Regina and Victoria sit at 2-1 following Day 2 action, which included a thrilling 6-5 Victoria win over Lethbridge in Draw 4.
An Alberta win, coupled with wins or losses by both Regina and Victoria tomorrow would trigger a tie-breaker to determine the final U SPORTS berth between the Cougars and Vikes. A win by Victoria over the Pandas, along with a Regina win over Brandon would see all three teams sit at 3-1, and trigger tie-breakers to determine both the conference champion and second national tournament berth.
The Brandon women earned a 7-6 win over Victoria on Saturday morning, while the Lethbridge Pronghorns finished their tournament with an 0-4 record.
On the men's side, Lethbridge topped Victoria 10-7 to finish at 1-3, while Victoria is still looking for their first win at 0-3.
Draw 5 is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow morning at Saville Community Sports Centre, with tie-breaking games slated for 1:00 p.m. if necessary.
