Vikes, Thunderbirds crowned Canada West Golf Champions

Victoria, B.C. - The University of Victoria Vikes men and University of British Columbia women took home the team titles at the 2022 Canada West Golf Championships, Oct. 4.
The conference banners marked the first win in program history for the Vikes men, while the UBC women repeated as conference championships after their 2021 win.
The Vikes men finished +3 collectively with rounds of 293 and 278. UBC finished second at +7 (279, 296) in the team standings, while Fraser Valley rounded out the top three with a +9 (286, 291) over the two-day tournament.
Individually, the Heat's Justin Towill took home the gold, carding a -3 (70, 69) over 36 holes of play. UFV's Jackson Jacob earned silver with his overall -2 (69, 71), improving from his bronze medal finish at the 2021 Canada West Golf Championships. UVic's Robin Conlan won the individual bronze, shooting -1 (72, 69) over two rounds.
The Cascades' Eli Greene (72, 70) and Ben Whiton (70, 72) posted even finishes to round out the top five individual men's finishers.
The UBC women shot +19 (221, 224) as a team to earn the conference banner, followed by Victoria at +25 (226, 225) for silver, and UBCO with a +29 (225, 230) in bronze position as teams.
The Vikes' Sukriti Harjai improved on her silver medal showing at the 2021 conference championships, earning the gold medal with a -3 (68, 71) total. Jessica Ng of UBC finished even (68, 74) after 26 holes of play for the silver medal, while Khushi Hooda of UBCO carded a +3 (71, 74) to capture the bronze medal.
Closing out the top five for the women individually were UBC's Una Chou at +4 (73, 73) and Victoria Tse from Calgary at +6 (73, 75).
