In the first final of the event, it was Andreas Troschke taking home the gold in the men's weight throw with a distance of 18.83m, almost a metre and a half over the second-place finisher Graham Wright from the Bisons. Joshua Suelzle took home the bronze for Manitoba.
In the womens 1000m, it was Calgary's Olivia Cooper edging out Saskatchewan's Avery Pearson with times of 2:47.55. Rounding out the top three was the Pandas Kaitlyn Swartz.
The men's 1000m followed and it was the Saskatchewan's Quintan Fast edging out Regina's outstanding rookie Jonathan Podbielski by two tenths of a second. Fast finished in a time of 2:28.57. Rounding out the medals was Nicholas Cook from Alberta just five hundredths behind Podbielski.
There was excitement in the men's long jump, as Saskatchewan's Michael Akintunde jumping 7.59m to win the competition by a wide margin. Akintunde would beat a 50-year Saskatchewan school record with his jump. Okewoma Okumo and Camron Lockyer from Trinity Western took silver and bronze respectively.
Saskatchewan's Jenna McFadyen ran away with the women's 3000m with a time of 9:33.76. Kaila Neigum out of Regina finished second with the Victoria Vikes Jennifer Erickson rounding out the podium.
In the men's 3000m, the Victoria VIkes sweept the podium with Anton Kuipers taking the gold medal. Daniel Damian took home the silver medal while Gabe Vanhezewijk took home the bronze medal.
Over in women's shotput, Anna McConnell from Manitoba won with a massive throw of 14.62m. Saskatchewan's Jennifer Weber took second and Alexis Johnson took bronze to round out the medalists.
After a break on the track, Alberta's Catharina Kluyts stole the show in the women's 60m hurdles with a blazing time of 8.27. Joely Welburn finished second for Regina while the Saskatchewan's Timi Adelugba finished third, just edging out Hailey Hitchings of Alberta by one, one hundredth.
Men's hurdles saw four tenths separate the top three with Justin Rose of Alberta taking the win. Thomas Haidl of Regina and Adam Andres of Manitoba finished off the podium.
The women's 300 final was all Saskatchewan with Kendra Farmer capturing gold in the event with a time of 38.68. Paige Willems and Grace Igbiki rounded out the podium for Saskatchewan.
The men's 300m was a barn burner with Manitoba's Tyler Cox-Yestrau barely edging out Calgary's Kai Spierenburg by one, one hundredth with a time of 34.56. Justin Rose of Alberta took home third place in the event.
Madison Lawrance of Manitoba put together a strong score of 3898 points in the women's pentathlon. Sienna MacDonald won the silver medal, and it was Holly Harrison rounding out the top three in the five-event showdown.
The women's 4x800m saw Alberta win with a time of 8:59.69. Saskatchewan and Manitoba rounded out the top three.
The Bisons took the win in the men's 4x800m followed closely by the Saskatchewan Huskies. Alberta rounded out the podium in the men's distance relay.
In the women's pole vault it was Leadan Chartier taking home gold for the DInos with a jump of 3.79m. Ana Fonseca from the Spartans and Sierra Leonard of Alberta took the silver and bronze medals respectively.
Ending the evening at the Saskatoon Field House, the woman's long jump was won by Regina's Joely Welburn with a massive 6.16m jump. Calgary's Sienna MacDonald and Alberta's Autumn Cole rounding out the top three.
Competition returns tomorrow morning at 11:00 AM CST. After day one on the mens side, Manitoba led the way with a score of 55. Saskatchewan and Alberta were closely behind at 48.5 and 45 respectively. Saskatchewan's women's team led with 82 points, Alberta has 75 and Calgary is in third at 57.
