Thunderbirds Claim CW Rugby 7s Title
UBC win's second straight title
LANGLEY, British Columbia – With a dominant 19-0 victory over the Victoria Vikes the UBC Thunderbirds made it back-to-back Canada West women’s Rugby 7’s championships at Willoughby Community Park Stadium Saturday afternoon in Langley, B.C.
The Thunderbirds finish the final tournament of the season with a 5-0 record to end the CW season in top spot with 28 points. The Victoria Vikes finished the season with a silver medal after finishing with 26 points, while the Calgary Dinos claim the CW bronze medal with 14 points.
Leading the Day 2 scoring were UBC’s Savannah Bauder 15 points (3T), Sara Kaljuvee 14 points (7C), Calgary’s Sofia Brussoni 12 points (2T, 1C), Delaney Aikens 11points (1T, 3C), Victoria’s Maggier MacKinnon 11 points (1T, 3C).
