Griffins conquer Edmonton Marathon 5K

A trio of current and former MacEwan University Griffins found their stride in the Edmonton Marathon 5k race capturing top spots in their respective divisions. Current Griffins Vanessa Trofimenkoff and Chanelle Gagne (Edmonton, AB) paced their age groups, while former Griffin Glynis Milne (Edmonton, AB) also found herself atop the podium.
Trofimenkoff, a fourth year runner from Fort Saskatchewan, competed in the 20-29 age bracket and covered the distance in 18 minutes and 37 seconds. The three-time all-Canadian, (CCAA 2012, 2013 and CIS 2014) also posted the fastest time of all women competitors.
Gagne, who competed in the 16-19 age group crossed the finish line in 19 minutes and 47 seconds, while alum Milne captured the women's 30-39 year old division in a time of 19 minutes and 45 seconds, registering the second fastest time of the distance. Gagne's time was the third quickest time overall, completing the Griffins trifecta.
The MacEwan University Griffins team will officially begin their season September when they participate in the NAIT Invitational on September 12th in Edmonton.
