XC: Top finishers at Stewart Cup take weekly awards
VANCOUVER - Alberta's Riley Stuermer and Saskatchewan's Jenna McFadyen were named Canada West Cross Country Runners of the Week by the conference on Tuesday.
Both athletes finished in top spot among Canada West competitors at the Stewart Cup, in Camrose, Alberta on October 2.
McFadyen crossed the finish line of the 6-km women's race in a time of 22:41, 20 seconds head of the next conference competitor. The first-year from Waseca, Sask. finished the open event second overall.
Stuermer, a product of St. Albert, Alta. won the men's 8-km open race in a time of 26:34, beating out three Alberta Golden Bear teammates for top spot.
A number of the conference's cross country programs will be back in competition October 9 at the Trinity Western Invitational.
The 2021 Canada West Championships, hosted by the Saskatchewan Huskies, is set for October 30.
